My name is Alex.

I'm the founder, engineer, designer and customer support behind the RailBird Poker app.

I started building RailBird after first moving to Austin, TX where I began hosting a weekly home game with friends that quickly grew to 100+ players coming in and out over the years.

Tracking buy-ins and cash-outs correctly, and settling monetary disputes with friends is never enjoyable to say the least. I built this app in the hopes of helping other groups of friends focus on getting back to having fun at the table, and most importantly, save time and money when the totals don’t add up.

RailBird is an entirely self-funded project, and is looking for early adopters to take part in shaping this app into a fully-featured companion to your home games. Access to the product is currently only available on iOS, although other platforms may be supported in the future.

Aspirations

This is just the start for RailBird. Over the course of the next few years, I plan to expand the scope of what this app can offer in the following ways:

Be world-class.
Deliver high quality experiences with a sharp look-and-feel, bringing use cases traditionally handled by legacy poker tech into the modern era.
Charts and graphs.
Give users control over their data, allowing them to track personal performance and drill into all of the stats that could possibly be made available.
Foster communities.
Add support for a more rich set of social features, allowing poker enthusiasts to find friendly home games in their area, and replace the need to use social media as an event management tool.
Physical products.
Provide access to quality third-party products relevant to the home game experience. If we're lucky, maybe we'll even see some first-party products one day!
Multi-platform access.
Meet poker players where they're at, making sure that no one in the group is left out just because they don't use an iPhone.
Improved pricing models.
Experiment with alternative pricing options, allowing larger groups to offset the cost of access for their members.
